North Charleston, S.C. (June 15, 2026) — The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) will showcase its character and resiliency education initiative, The Leadership Minute, at the 2026 Palmetto Education Summit at the North Charleston Convention Center.
Educators, administrators, school leaders, counselors, community stakeholders and policymakers are invited to attend the interactive workshop, “Experiencing the Leadership Minute,” on Tuesday from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
The Leadership Minute teaches character, resiliency, leadership and life skills to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The program currently serves 315 elementary schools in 59 school districts across South Carolina and is on track to reach all 800 elementary schools statewide by this time next year.
Workshop attendees will hear from Citadel Head Football Coach Maurice Drayton, an ambassador for one of the Leadership Minute lessons. Drayton will discuss character development, perseverance, leadership and the role athletics can play in teaching life lessons.
“The Leadership Minute is helping shape the next generation of South Carolina leaders by providing practical, engaging lessons that build character and resilience,” said David Wyatt, founder and chairman of the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame. “We believe football is more than a game. It is a bridge to inspire excellence in the classroom, in the community and throughout life.”
The Palmetto Education Summit begins Monday with a keynote address by South Carolina State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver. The event brings together education leaders from across the state to discuss strategies that improve student outcomes and prepare young people for success.
The Leadership Minute supports the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame’s mission to help South Carolina become a national leader in college and career readiness by developing students who are academically, socially and emotionally prepared for future success.
Attendees are encouraged to visit the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame exhibit and workshop session to learn how schools, educators, businesses and community partners can help expand the program across the state.
